Previous challenges

As our user base grew, we began to experience technical difficulties with our old cloud provider. The servers could not scale well enough under the large MariaDB-Galera cluster. We also had problems with the network as well as the storage performance which reflected in the overall service quality.

Before migrating to UpCloud, we made thorough comparisons between multiple different providers. We knew we would need an exemplary storage performance and reliability. In the end, UpCloud came out on top with their MaxIOPS technology. By our own testing, we’ve achieved read and write speeds comparable to those on modern dedicated servers without the additional costs.

We’ve aimed to keep our systems as simplistic and easily maintainable as possible to reduce the strain of administration. Our application servers are load balanced to ensure redundancy while the database is built on a high-performance cluster. Static files, in turn, are shared quickly thanks to intelligent caching servers.

Our high availability setup has proven very reliable in production while at the same time offering great performance. After migrating to UpCloud, we haven’t had a single outage due to technical difficulties. We are happy to report a true 100% availability.


Previously, we ended up wasting a lot of time investigating and resolving technical problems. In contrast, we’ve been extremely happy hosting on UpCloud thanks to their reliable infrastructure.

The server management is quick and easy using both the API and control panel. We are able to add, remove and scale servers with little effort which saves us time and money.

Future plans

We are in process of redistributing our services between multiple data centres. On UpCloud, this can be accomplished easily thanks to the secure private network interconnecting all of their data centres.

In the future, we would like to see additional features like load balancing as a service and freely configurable internal networks.
