NAT Gateway security

NAT (Network Address Translation) significantly strengthens network security by acting as a shield between servers attached to SDN Private Networks and the public internet. It conceals the true IP addresses of the servers from the outside world, making it much harder for malicious actors to identify and target specific machines within your network. This layer of obscurity functions as a basic firewall, significantly raising the bar for potential attackers.

The NAT Gateway tracks active connections, allowing only return traffic corresponding to those established connections to pass through. Unsolicited incoming packets from the internet are rejected, acting as an effective deterrent to common network intrusions. This stateful inspection provides a robust defense against a variety of threats, contributing to a more secure and resilient network environment.
