Today, we are proud to announce the next step of our Nordic expansion with the launch of our new data center location in Stavanger, Norway, ready for deployment now.
This launch marks another milestone for us. With the opening of our Norwegian data center, UpCloud is now the only cloud-native infrastructure provider offering pan-Nordic coverage, with availability zones in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and now, Norway.

Located in Rennesøy just outside Stavanger, this site is a marvel of engineering. Deep inside a granite mountain, the site was formerly a high-security NATO ammunition storage facility. This military-grade bunker has been transformed into a modern fortress for your data..
It is Tier III certified by the Uptime Institute which ensures the highest levels of reliability and operational uptime.
The facility utilizes a unique deep-water fjord cooling solution that draws water from 100 meters deep at a constant 8°C. This allows for extreme energy efficiency with a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) as low as 1.2, far below the industry average of 1.6.
By deploying our proprietary technology within this “mountain fortress,” we combine UpCloud’s agile and developer-friendly software with one of the most physically secure and energy-efficient environments in the world.
