Real Customer Success Stories
Managed Database is a carefree database-as-a-service for running well-known open-source databases in the cloud. Built on high availability, Managed Databases provide a secure way to store application data.
Managed Databases utilise the databases’s native streaming replication features to replicate the data to the hot standby nodes in real time. In normal operation, DNS entries will point to a primary node and one of the replicas in will be automatically promoted in case of a primary failure. Using plans with at least two nodes is highly recommended.
Yes indeed, the replica nodes offer a perfect use case for load balancing the Managed Database cluster by splitting read and write operations between multiple nodes.
Of course, you are able to create and manage users and their permissions directly through the database engine’s own interface by using the primary user for management.
Yes, at-rest data encryption covers both active service instances as well as service backups stored in cloud Object Storage. Service instances and the underlying Cloud Servers use full volume encryption with a randomly generated ephemeral key per each instance and each volume.
Restores are always done to a new instance, never on top of an existing one. Restoring a backup to a temporary instance allows you to view the data without interruption to your database services.
