Facing slow deployments on their previous infrastructure, Hack The Box needed a high-performance solution to meet customer demand.
“Onboarding with UpCloud was seamless. We enjoyed the easy-to-follow documentation and the fact that all our questions were answered immediately! During our PoC time, we saw significant improvements in good-to-go times for our services while the proposed private cloud plan decreased costs by around 30%.”

UpCloud Private Cloud is a dedicated, single-tenant cloud platform delivered on UpCloud’s infrastructure. It gives you the same user experience, APIs, and management tools as UpCloud Public Cloud—but on hardware reserved solely for you.
UpCloud Private Cloud is delivered as a fully managed service, not a DIY platform stack. While VMware, OpenStack, and Proxmox private clouds require you (or a partner) to install, configure, license, and maintain the hypervisor and control plane, UpCloud handles the entire infrastructure lifecycle so you can focus on your workloads.
Key differences:
Yes. UpCloud supports Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP). Your prefixes can be announced via BGP (subject to validation and LOA). Availability and prefix size requirements depend on the target region.
You can migrate using:
UpCloud’s support and professional services can guide you through planning and execution.
Private Cloud inherits UpCloud’s 99.999% uptime SLA for core services (compute, storage, network). Premium SLA tiers are available, including faster response and hardware replacement times.
Private Cloud hosts are monitored 24/7. If a node fails, the VMs are started automatically on healthy hosts.
Yes, contact our sales team for more information.
Yes. You can deploy third-party backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Bacula, Restic, Borg, etc.) as VMs or appliances inside your Private Cloud. Because you control the guest OS, you can run agents or services to protect data at file or application level.
Yes. You may deploy custom firewalls, VPN appliances, IDS/IPS, or WAFs as virtual instances, or configure OS-level firewalls. Private network and routing features allow advanced segmentation.
Yes. You can select any UpCloud data centre for deployment to meet latency or data residency requirements. If you would like to have UpCloud Private Cloud in a DC of your choice, that can be discussed as well with our Sales team.
Yes. Multi-site deployments are supported, including support for building active/active or active/passive setups.
UpCloud cloud platform comes with a dedicated and preselected set of hardware that is rigorously selected to meet the high standards UpCloud is know for.
Yes. That is one of the key differentiators for UpCloud’s Private Cloud. You can use both Private and Public Clouds with the same credentials using the same user interfaces and seamlessly connect resources using our SDN Private Networks or VPN.
Windows Server licensing in the UpCloud Private Cloud is handled at the host level rather than at individual Cloud Server basis. By applying a fixed-fee Windows Server license to your dedicated compute node, you are permitted to run an unlimited number of Windows instances on that specific host hardware. This replaces the traditional pay-per-VM model.
Note that Bring Your Own License (BYOL) is available for other 3rd party applications like SQL Server, provided they meet vendor mobility requirements.
All Windows Server licenses must be provided by UpCloud.
Bring Your Own License (BYOL) is available for other 3rd party applications such as SQL Servers.
Yes, eligible licenses (e.g., with Software Assurance) can be brought to Private Cloud environments when compliant with vendor policies.
Private Cloud is billed as a monthly subscription per host plus optional pay-as-you-go for storages, backups, etc.
Yes, Private Cloud is usually contracted for at least 12 months, with shorter pilots or longer commitments negotiated case-by-case.
