Managing a shared storage environment across multiple servers can often be a bit of a chore. Many engineering teams find themselves caught between the manual effort of self managed NFS clusters and the high costs of hyperscaler solutions.
We believe there is a better way to handle your data. Today we are launching File Storage with NFS to solve that exact problem.
File Storage is now available from our Helsinki (FI-HEL2) data centre.
File Storage provides a resilient and fully supported solution for your distributed architecture. We have focused on performance and regional sovereignty to ensure you have the reliability you need without the usual management headaches.
The real value of File Storage is the support for ReadWriteMany access. Unlike standard Block Storage, this service allows multiple Cloud Servers or Kubernetes pods to access the same file system at the same time. This creates a single source of truth for your most critical application data.
“The biggest frustration was that while NFS is a tried and true technology, it’s a total pain to set up correctly. Most customers struggled with the expertise gap – following a tutorial and setting up a basic file share is not hard, but making it fast and making sure data will persist requires a lot of specialized tuning.”
“Before we built this, teams were constantly fighting with slow performance or complex failover setups that felt like a second job. Our product fixes this by automating all of this. We’ve baked the best practices directly into the system so you get the rock-solid persistence of NFS without needing to be a storage specialist to keep it from breaking.”

Data sovereignty is a strategic necessity for businesses operating in Europe. Since we are based in Finland, we ensure your data remains within your chosen jurisdiction and is protected by local privacy standards.
We have integrated security into the core of the service. Your data is stored with high availability on two separate physical servers while we handle the underlying maintenance and security patching. Access is granted exclusively through your private networks to keep your data traffic isolated from the public internet.
We believe that enterprise grade performance should be straightforward. While other providers often use complex pricing models with fluctuating costs, we prefer to keep things transparent.
At €0.15 per GB per month, we offer a high performance alternative to the likes of AWS EFS or Azure Files. Cloud Servers connect to File Storage using NFS over SDN Private Networks (or just private networks), making the connection both truly secure and free of any transfer costs. You can scale your infrastructure with a clear understanding of your monthly investment.
You can deploy a storage instance in just a few minutes through the control panel, plans start at 250 GB and can scale up to 25 TB.
This launch is another milestone in our mission to provide a complete and sovereign cloud ecosystem. In the coming months we will expand availability to our data centers in Frankfurt, Stockholm, and New York. We are also working on automated backup features to further simplify your data management strategy.
You can find all the technical details in our official documentation. If you are ready to simplify your storage layer, log in to the UpCloud control panel and deploy your first instance today.
