Achieving scalability and cost-efficiency with UpCloud

Belonging to the Etola Group, Finnish software company Adeona, specialises in product information management (PIM) solutions enabling businesses to optimise their product information processes and empowering digital commerce. Unifying scattered product information, Adeona helps its customers to enrich their product data, unlock growth and  increase performance, cutting time to market in addition to costs.

With a focus on long-term partnerships and a commitment to client success, Adeona serves industry leaders in manufacturing, wholesale/distribution, retail, and services.

New beginnings with UpCloud

Looking to renew its product platform, Adeona implemented a full architecture renewal aiming for cloud-based SaaS delivery, while providing customer specific single-tenant SaaS environments.

“Our aim was to find a solution that has high performance and reliability, while still being affordable so that we can keep the pricing as low as possible for our customers.”

Janne Costiander, CTO at Adeona

In addition, the team at Adeona sought the ability to scale servers up or down as needed. In their evaluation of several cloud providers, Adeona decided to partner with UpCloud and have been a loyal customer for the past 9 years.

“With UpCloud, we can trust that our services for our customers are always up and running,” says CTO, Janne Costiander. The consistent performance and optimisation capabilities of UpCloud’s platform have enabled Adeona to effectively manage running costs, enabling  them to deliver their services to customers at a competitive price point.

Seamless scalability

Adeona leverages a range of UpCloud services, including servers, Object Storage, and backups, to power their single-tenant SaaS product. Currently, they have approximately 70 servers running on UpCloud, with a yearly growth rate of around 30%. This necessitates regular deployment of new servers on a monthly basis, and occasional rescaling.

While their current setup doesn’t require load balancing or high-availability configurations, the flexibility of UpCloud’s infrastructure allows for easy adaptation as their needs evolve.

“Collaboration with UpCloud is easy and flexible. The support is fast and the level of expertise is high. It’s easy to trust that things are working as they should, and in case we have any questions, they are answered rapidly.”

Janne Costiander, CTO at Adeona

Looking ahead, Adeona plans to further utilise UpCloud’s offerings, including exploring managed services like Databases and Kubernetes to optimise their infrastructure and enhance their product.

Adeona is hungry for further growth and strives to be the go-to partner in the product information management market. The company is aiming to double their ARR and expand their team in the next three years. At UpCloud we are delighted to be part of Adeona’s cloud journey and look forward to their future growth!
