We are extremely pleased to welcome Helena Telaranta as our new Chief People and Culture Officer at UpCloud.

Previously, Helena has been working in global HR leadership roles in industrial, tech, and professional services, such as Wärtsilä, Qt Group, and Deloitte. Joining our team in April 2024, Helena’s experience in different growth environments, as well as ramping up and developing people operations in global setups bring valuable insights to developing UpCloud’s People Operations further.

“As we build UpCloud for its next stage of growth, I am very happy to welcome Helena as our new Chief People and Culture Officer. She brings a wealth of knowledge enabling us to scale and further improve our People Operations, in an international setting.”

  • – Antti Vilpponen, CEO

Helena has been working with our Leadership Team for a couple of months now, taking part in shaping the core projects and processes since the beginning. We discussed her first impressions of the company as well as the key focus areas she’d like to work on.

The aim of the Chief People and Culture Officer is to support UpCloud’s growth efforts and translate company strategy into pragmatic, future-proof people plans and activities. Besides, with teams of professionals located across the globe, it’s necessary to constantly develop agile ways of working, as well as create an inspiring and supportive environment where every talent can thrive.

“One of our strengths is our flexibility which I value a great deal.  It will power diversity within UpCloud and enable meeting both the business and the individual needs of our professionals.”

Scaling up without losing the culture

For Helena, being an international player that keeps growing and innovating, has been one of the key decisive factors why to join UpCloud.

“We have a great product in a well-scalable niche market. The scale-up phase where we are at the moment is something that I find both interesting and rewarding – that’s where one can truly have an impact and do meaningful work.”

  • – Helena Telaranta

Since its beginnings, UpCloud put a lot of effort into building a truly unique workplace culture with fun and camaraderie being actively promoted alongside work as a part of our company vision. Having Helena join the Leadership team makes sure we continue on this path.

One of Helena’s tasks will be developing our shared values reflecting how we interact with each other and with our customers. To improve both efficiency and talent experience during our growth, implementing various people processes, such as HR system projects, will also be a big part of her agenda.

“Based on the first months, I probably have never felt more welcome when joining a new team. Things are moving fast, and there is the potential to keep building a great company together. I simply feel lucky to be part of it.”

  • – Helena Telaranta
