The first half of 2025 was a period of significant growth and innovation at UpCloud. We focused on three core areas to help you build and scale faster: boosting performance, simplifying your workflow, and increasing reliability. These UpCloud updates showcase our dedication to empowering you with the tools needed to build, scale, and succeed.
Let’s look back at the key product milestones that have shaped our platform in the first half of 2025.
A cornerstone of our performance leadership, we began the rollout of 5th Gen AMD EPYC™ 9575F Turin processors across our global data centers in April 2025. This significant hardware upgrade, provided at no extra cost or downtime for our customers, has already delivered a substantial performance boost (we’re talking 30-40% compared to previous generations!) to a growing number of our Cloud Servers.

Managed Kubernetes got some serious upgrades. Key improvements included the introduction of automatic upgrades and improved networking features, both announced by our team in Q1 2025. These updates simplify managing your containerized workloads, slash operational overhead, and ensure your UKS clusters stay secure, performant, and up-to-date with the latest Kubernetes versions and best practices.

In a move designed to simplify cloud adoption and cut down on operational overhead, we introduced UpCloud Essentials in June 2025. This suite of complimentary platform features, now available to all our customers, includes previously billed services like: Load Balancers, Kubernetes control plane, NAT Gateway, and VPN Gateway, all alongside our zero data transfer fees.
UpCloud Essentials allow you to focus more on development and innovation, and less on wrestling with complex billing for core infrastructure components. This launch also coincided with a refresh of our brand, aligning our visual identity with our mission of empowering people and simplifying the cloud.

To show our unwavering commitment to uptime and reliability, our team announced an improved 99.999% Service Level Agreement (SLA) for all core services, effective May 1st, 2025.
Building on the success of our Developer plans (which we introduced in late 2024), this change standardizes a higher level of availability across our platform. It offers greater transparency and aligns our services with industry-leading standards, giving you even more confidence in your critical workloads.

Following the successful launch of the initial Cloud Native plan tier in late 2024, our team introduced additional plans in Q1 2025 to give you even more choice and flexibility. These new options cater to a wider range of workloads, ensuring you can perfectly align your infrastructure with your specific needs.

We’re all about making things easier, which is why our team rolled out a new dynamic disk sizing feature for UpCloud’s Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) in Q1 2025. This intelligent feature enables you to adjust storage capacity based on demand without downtime! This ensures efficient resource usage. It alleviates the need to scale up the whole cluster just to increase storage capacity and helps you scale your databases more effectively.
In early July we released our new NVIDIA L40S GPU servers, bringing a new era of computational power and flexibility to your fingertips. Starting from just €1.11 per hour. This isn’t just about faster computing; it’s about unlocking new possibilities for your most demanding applications, from cutting-edge AI to high-fidelity media rendering.
With our open source, European ethos, our GPUs have no vendor lock-in, no data exposure, and no third-party dependencies. You have full control over your data, models, and infrastructure, billed hourly, without rigid contracts or long-term commitments.
(Coming soon) A new software-defined networking (SDN) capability will allow you to create direct network connections between two data centers or private clouds in different locations. Once peered, your resources, including servers and databases, can communicate as if they were on the same network using private IP addresses. This exciting update will enhance connectivity, boosts performance, and simplifies distributed infrastructure needs.
The first half of 2025 has truly showcased our commitment to pushing the boundaries of cloud hosting. These product advancements, from cutting-edge processors to more inclusive platform features and enhanced reliability, are all designed with you, our users, in mind, ensuring you have the best possible foundation for your digital journey.
We’re committed to keep this momentum going throughout the rest of 2025 and beyond, always focusing on delivering the performance, simplicity, and personalized support that defines the UpCloud experience.
