Montel Intergalactic delivers DevOps expertise for the whole cloud infrastructure modernisation journey, including cloud migrations, containerisation, Kubernetes setup, and an automated continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
Montel’s customers are often businesses, like SaaS companies, that rely heavily on their software for operations. Those companies require broad, senior-level deep tech knowledge from a permanent yet flexible technology partner. The accessibility of their service is often critical for their company’s business, and they need a well-functioning cloud infrastructure. With MontelCare, the clients get a working, up-to-date infrastructure without needing to worry about service outages.
Seamless collaboration with UpCloud
UpCloud appeared on Montel’s radar many years ago. The competitive pricing and big future plans raised their interest, and the seamless collaboration has sealed the deal. Currently, UpCloud offers all the essential features Montel’s clients look for in an infrastructure-as-a-service, which makes it easy to set up.
“Infrastructure-related issues are rare, but they can be very complicated when they happen. The superb service we’ve gotten from UpCloud has been the best part of the collaboration. Resolving issues and getting proper analysis on past hiccups has made it possible to continuously improve our service as well.”
Lauri Kainulainen, CTO at Montel Intergalactic
In 2021, when UpCloud moved to offer Cloud Native products, Montel became part of the UpCloud Partner Program. While Montel assists UpCloud’s customers in building and maintaining Kubernetes-based infrastructure, their clients can rely on a fast and reliable platform and take advantage of UpCloud’s Managed Kubernetes service.
“When building infrastructures, Montel is definitely a Kubernetes house. UpCloud Managed Kubernetes combined with the Managed Database offering is our most used solution,” says Kainulainen.
“Doing this day-to-day has been a joy with UpCloud due to the comprehensive tooling and interfaces they provide. Our DevOps people love how easily we can get into contact with the actual developers on the UpCloud side if we run into more complicated infrastructure issues,” Kainulainen continues.
Easily scalable and highly available setups
Out of UpCloud solutions, Montel primarily uses Managed Kubernetes and Managed Databases, mainly PostgreSQL. Some projects use the UpCloud API to check or provision items in the infrastructure. Terraform has been used for some projects to set up the infrastructure reproducibly. Object Storage, backups, and internal networks are additionally used for almost all projects.
All setups are highly available, with production environments running several instances of critical workloads. The servers don’t need to be scaled often, as Kubernetes does a good job of balancing the load. When required, bringing new servers up is easy and fast.
Reliability and cost savings
Montel wishes to help as many companies as possible to build and maintain modern, future-proof cloud infrastructures. The partnership with UpCloud offers their clients an affordable yet quality cloud platform.
“Montel is actively recommending UpCloud to some customers for better reliability and functionality, which will, in turn, lead to cost savings down the line, where they might have missed out on sales before due to server downtime.”
Lauri Kainulainen, CTO at Montel Intergalactic
The raw cost of a server alone is already significantly lower when sourced from UpCloud compared to hyperscalers. However, cost optimisation goes beyond that. Companies are focused on streamlining their spending and cutting back on unnecessary expenses. Additionally, choosing a European cloud provider brings the benefit of data sovereignty and GDPR compliance.
The unique communication experience with UpCloud’s technical experts ensures that the challenges Montel’s customers might encounter will be resolved quickly, allowing them to fully concentrate on developing future-proof digital solutions.
