3 reasons to choose UpCloud

Key points

SSDs are fast but they weren’t fast enough for us. We developed a completely new type of storage backend, named MaxIOPS. It’s specifically built to give your SMB company the best I/O performance for today’s demanding web applications and services. It often gives you up to 2x the performance of standard enterprise-grade SSD. We have had to actually limit the performance to 100,000 IOPS per virtual storage device to ensure high performance at all times.

Industry leading IaaS marketplace analyst Cloud Spectator has chosen UpCloud twice as #1 performance leader in Europe among 10 top European cloud providers (DigitalOcean, Azure, AWS, Google, 1and1, CenturyLink, Rackspace, OVH, and Softlayer).

“UpCloud displayed the highest CPU and Memory performance overall”

Private networking and Floating IPs are essential in building modern and scalable web applications. Our truly private and highly configurable SDN Network lets your cloud servers communicate through a secure connection that is not exposed to the public network (i.e. the Internet) and doesn’t count towards your bandwidth costs.

Both UpCloud and Linode provide you with the tools to create a complex infrastructure with ease, using simple but powerful APIs and control panels.

One of the key differences between UpCloud and Linode is that Linode’s private network is essentially shared between all servers and only works inside the same data centre. With UpCloud, you get a 100% private Utility network, that spans across all of our data centres!

Visit our Documentation page to learn more about our services or subscribe to our newsletter.

With UpCloud, you get full flexibility. Each cloud server can be deployed using a Simple, discounted plan or with fully customizable Flexible resource limits, completely according to your budget and needs. You can even switch between Simple plans and Flexible configurations whenever you want.

With Linode’s plans, you’re locked into the resource limits that are provided by the plans they have chosen for you. So what if you need to add additional CPU cores, but are happy with the amount of memory and storage? Too bad! You’ll have to upgrade to the next available plan, significantly adding to your costs as you are paying for resources you don’t actually require. Without the possibility of configuring each resource independently, you will never be in complete control.
